What We Did

• Removed all old roofing materials
• Installed 6ft of Certainteed Winterguard®
• Covered the roof decking with Certainteed Roofer's Select® felt paper
• Installed Certainteed Landmark® 30-yr architectural shingles

This customer had used us in the past and it was time to get one of his investment properties in the market. He knew that the roof didn't look great and, even though it wasn't leaking, a new roof with architectural shingles would help sell the property that much faster.

Our roofers started by removing all the old 3-tab shingles, flashings and backing paper from the roof. There was an old analog antenna on the roof that this customer had no use for, so our roofers removed that as well.

Next we conducted a thorough inspection of the wood on the roof deck, and as it looked great, the roofers installed CertainTeed Winterguard® Ice-and-Water Shield around the roof edges and 6 feet up from the gutters. Then our roofers covered the rest of the wood deck with CertainTeed Roofer's Select® High Performance Felt Underlayment. After that, it was time to cover the roof with the new shingles.

This house had no upper ventilation system, so on the ridge, we made sure the decking was properly vented by installing Shingle Vent II® ridge vent, made by AirVent®.

By observing the required and recommended installation procedures by the manufacturer, we as a local roofing company are able to offer an exceptional warranty to our customers. The warranties vary from 20 to 50 years of non-prorated coverage, depending on the type of shingle they choose, 30-yr architectural, or premium lifetime shingles, with many different designs.

Overall, this customer was very happy with the new roof on his property. We replaced the roof in one good, dry day in snowy January and the person who makes this their own home will have true peace-of-mind about the roof above it!
